A Sneak Peak Into My Own Skin Care Routine

Do you break out in hives just thinking about how to better care for you skin? Maybe you feel lost when it comes to figuring out which products will serve your skin the best. Or maybe you already have a skin care routine — but it’s filled with chemicals.

I’m gonna share with you my exact skin care routine that I follow on a daily (or sometimes weekly) basis to keep my skin soft and clean.

Skin Care Routine: AM

Since I’m a night shower-er, my morning routine is actually a lot more simple. I rinse my face with warm water, dry off, & apply a face cream. Some days I’ll use mascara if I wanna feel fancy, but otherwise I keep it pretty natural.

I use tea tree oil as deodorant to avoid any chemical-filled deodorant. Aluminum is a really common highly-toxic ingredient in deodorant that is worth avoiding at all costs. Research has shown links between aluminum and Alzheimer’s, among other diseases. No, thank you!

Mid-Day Touch Up

If I feel like I need a pick-me-up during the day, I usually use essential oils. Lavender or peppermint are good options to keep on hand, as lavender is calming and peppermint is refreshing.

Because of how hydrating my daytime face cream is, I typically don’t feel like my skin dries out during the day, so overall things stay very low maintenance. Before bed is where I kick things up and take care of any specific concerns.

Skin Care Routine: PM

Ahhh, the evening is my favorite for skin care. (I’ll do another post about hair care at some point!) I change things up based on my specific concerns for that day.

If I’m feeling dingy and want a good scrub, I’ll use a salt scrub to keep cleanse my body and face. I follow that up with a full-body oil treatment. On my face, I use a different face cream with an essential oil profile specifically designed for pre-bed. It’s loaded with chamomile oil which is amazing for skin and sleep.

At least 2-3 times per week, I use a clay face mask to detox, exfoliate, and deep cleanse. This is one of my favorite weekly rituals but not something to do every day. While these masks are hydrating, using the clay on your face every day can actually dry out your skin.
