Today I’m sharing with you my favorite recipe for body butter. This recipe is super easy to make and has tons of benefits. You can just is simply as a moisturizer or adjust the essential oils you add to treat specific skin conditions. I’ve chosen lavender and tea tree oil for their multitude of benefits and for all-around skin maintenance.
You will need shea butter, jojoba oil, avocado oil, tea tree oil, and lavender oil. Put 3 tablespoons of shea butter in a pot or glass bowl and place it on top of another pot with boiling water. Heat the shea butter just enough to melt it, but do not overheat it or you will kill the healthy properties. Mix in 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil and 1 tablespoon of avocado oil. Add 6-10 drops of tea tree and 6-10 drops of lavender oil. Combine the oils well and place in the refrigerator until the shea butter start solidifying again. At this point, use a hand mixer to whip the body butter into a cream.
You can skip the whipping step, but the body butter will be much harder when it solidifies. If you decide to change the essential oils, make sure to know the dilution rate for the oils you use in order to use them safely.
